Each year, Sherwin-Williams inspires us with a stunning array of colors that set the tone for interiors across the globe. The 2026 Colormix® Forecast: Anthology, Volume 2, is no exception—bringing together timeless hues, thoughtful neutrals, and bolder, nature-inspired shades that elevate every space they touch.

We’re particularly excited to incorporate these colors in our upcoming projects with Plain & Fancy and Fabuwood, as well as in the Hestan Napa tasting room, showroom, and restaurant space this September. Our recent trip to Austin to tour Four Hands HQ was one of those moments. The holidays are upon us, and while the season is full of joy and togetherness, it can also feel overwhelming when deciding how to decorate.

This year, we leaned into simplicity with a citrus-inspired theme, featuring vibrant oranges and lush magnolia leaves. From our mantle to the table settings, this cohesive look brought warmth and elegance to our home. Choosing a theme or palette is the secret to staying grounded amid the holiday hustle, making it easier to create a cohesive and intentional space.

Here are five tips to style your home for the season while celebrating creativity and community:

1. Choose a Theme or Color Palette

Start with a theme or palette that resonates with you. It could be inspired by nature, a favorite memory, or even a single color. This year, we loved the vibrant contrast of orange citrus paired with the timeless greenery of magnolia leaves.

A theme acts as your guide, giving you a focal point when making decisions and helping to unify your decorations throughout the house.

2. Mix and Match What You Have

Holiday decorating doesn’t mean starting from scratch. Look around your home for pieces you already love—vintage bowls for fruit, brass candlesticks, or glass jars for displaying ornaments. Incorporate these with your chosen theme.

For our citrus look, we used wooden bowls to hold fresh oranges and glass vases filled with magnolia clippings, elevating the items we already owned. 

3. Support Local Artists and Businesses

There’s something special about adding handcrafted pieces to your home, and the holidays are a perfect time to support local artisans. This year, we added ceramic ornaments from a nearby pottery studio and a wreath from a local florist that featured magnolia leaves.

Shopping small not only adds unique touches to your decor but also supports your community during the season of giving.

4. Layer in Natural Elements

Nature offers some of the best (and most budget-friendly) decor. Fresh oranges, pinecones, eucalyptus, and magnolia leaves added texture and warmth to our space.

These elements are versatile, fitting seamlessly on mantles, in arrangements, or as part of place settings. Plus, their natural beauty complements any design style, from rustic to modern.

5. Keep it Simple and Joyful

It’s easy to get carried away with all the options out there, but less is often more when it comes to holiday decor. 

Focus on a few impactful areas, like your mantle, dining table, or entryway. A citrus garland on the mantle, a simple centerpiece of greenery and fruit, and coordinating place settings created a polished, festive look without feeling cluttered.

A cohesive theme ties your holiday decor together and allows your creativity to shine while keeping the process stress-free. Whether you’re drawn to the sparkle of metallics, the rustic charm of natural elements, or the timeless beauty of traditional red and green, a thoughtful approach will transform your home into a holiday haven.

There’s something deeply invigorating and joyful about stepping outside and dining under the open sky, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending a gorgeous afternoon in the olive groves of Northern California with Cobram Estate Olive Oil, setting a table inspired by the organic beauty around us. From organic elements like tablecloths and runners to tree-to-table food and personal family touches, I’ve put together my top tips for creating an outdoor dining experience that celebrates fresh flavors, family history, and the beauty of nature.

Here’s how to create your own open-air dining experience with these essential tips.

1. Challenge Yourself to “Get Outside” for Your Next Gathering

Take advantage of a sunny day by moving your gathering outside. Dining al fresco brings a relaxed atmosphere that can’t be replicated indoors, connecting you with the fresh air and natural beauty around you.

Try setting up in your backyard, a nearby grove, or even a local park for a refreshing change of scenery that’s perfect for gathering with loved ones.

2. Go Organic with Your Décor for a Natural Look

The beauty of dining outside is that nature itself becomes your decor. Use rustic wood tables, woven placemats, and linen napkins to complement the natural surroundings. 

I like to layer the table with a simple runner and lightweight tablecloth to add a soft, inviting touch while keeping the look easy and unfussy. You don’t need perfection here—just embrace the beauty of the outdoors.

Rustic Tables & Layered Linens

A mix of rustic elements and soft textiles can set the perfect outdoor table. Consider a natural wood table and linens in earthy tones, layered for added warmth and charm. The goal is to create a look that feels effortless and welcoming.

3. Celebrate Family History with Personal Touches

One of my favorite ways to make outdoor dining feel personal is by mixing and matching dishes and flatware that tell a story. 

Consider incorporating pieces from your own family collection—like your grandmother’s silverware or a special set of plates you’ve been saving. These touches add depth and warmth to the table, making it feel like a true family celebration.

4. Create a Simple, Natural Centerpiece from Your Backyard

There’s no need to look further than your own backyard for the perfect centerpiece. I love creating arrangements with eucalyptus branches, olive sprigs, or even wildflowers picked fresh from the garden. 

Place them in small, low vases along the center of the table, or even scatter them as a light garland for a beautiful and natural touch. Remember, simplicity is key—let the greenery shine against your backdrop.

5. Embrace “Tree-to-Table” Freshness with Seasonal Ingredients

For me, nothing says outdoor dining like fresh, simple flavors that honor the season. Bring the warmth of home-cooked flavors to your table with this beautifully roasted chicken. Perfectly seasoned and roasted to a crisp golden brown, this dish is made easy with the Hestan Culinary 14.5 inch Classic Clad Roaster with Rack—your secret to even roasting and effortless cleanup.

Ingredients:

  • 5-6 lb whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp Cobram Estate Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 head of garlic, halved
  • Fresh herbs (such as rosemary and thyme) for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, and rosemary. Rub the mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin.
  4. Place the lemon quarters and garlic inside the chicken cavity.
  5. Place the chicken in the Hestan Classic Clad Roaster on the rack, breast side up.
  6. Roast for about 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden.
  7. Remove from oven, let rest for 10 minutes, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Layers of thinly sliced sweet potatoes baked to perfection in a rich, creamy sauce. Perfect for a cozy fall meal or as an indulgent side for Thanksgiving, this gratin is a true crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • Fresh thyme for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Arrange half of the sweet potato slices in a baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  4. Layer the remaining sweet potatoes on top, followed by the rest of the cream mixture and cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, until potatoes are tender and the top is golden.
  6. Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.

Celebrate the season with these delightful Thanksgiving-themed sugar cookies. Using Hestan’s OvenBond Half Sheet Pan and Mixing Bowls, you’ll have all the tools to create and decorate these charming cookies with ease.

for the cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp meringue powder
  • 5-6 tbsp water
  • Food coloring in autumn shades (orange, green, brown, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water. Mix until smooth, adjusting water as needed for desired consistency.
  2. Divide icing into bowls and tint with food coloring.
  3. Decorate cookies with a piping bag or small spatula for a festive Thanksgiving touch.

Designing a luxury vacation rental requires a delicate balance between creating a visually stunning space and ensuring it’s practical for guests.

Our latest project, a stunning home in Lake Tahoe, serves as an excellent showcase of this balance. Here are five essential considerations that guided our choices, ensuring the design was both beautiful and functional:

1. Maximizing Views

In Lake Tahoe, the awe-inspiring vistas are as crucial as the interior design. 

To capture this, we redesigned the space by removing a kitchen wall, creating an expansive view of the lake. This architectural tweak not only enhances the guest experience by integrating the outdoors with the indoors but also significantly boosts the property’s value.

2. Durability Meets Style

In Lake Tahoe, the awe-inspiring vistas are as crucial as the interior design. 

For this project, we chose Dekton Grafite countertops and a Eldorado Stone’s TundraBrick backsplash in Latigo finish. These materials are celebrated for their durability and ability to withstand heavy use, all while complementing the rustic charm of Lake Tahoe.

3. Celebrating Style & Strength

The environment inspired our choice of furniture materials, with reclaimed woods, performance fabrics, and distressed leathers taking center stage.

These selections not only add character but also ensure the furniture and finishes are durable enough to handle the wear and tear of frequent guests while celebrating the natural surroundings.

4. Flooring to Handle it All

Vacation homes, especially in areas like Lake Tahoe, need to withstand sand, snow, and high foot traffic.

We opted for Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), which offers resilience and ease of maintenance—ideal for accommodating both guests and pets.

5. Effortless Elegance in Textiles

For bedding and towels, we opted for timeless white to ensure ease of cleaning and maintain a consistently fresh appearance.

We accented these with Pendleton pillows and blankets, adding a touch of comfort and style, while Grown Alchemist lotions and soaps provided a luxurious feel that elevated the guest experience.

These five considerations allowed us to create a space that is not only luxurious and inviting but also functional and durable—a true home away from home for every guest who steps through the door.
